Jaimini Astrology
Jaimini astrology is totally different from the Parashara system of astrology. In Parashara astrology the series of dasha is based on the Nakshatra. In this branch of astrology, importance is given to the signs. We can also say that it is based on signs.Differences between Parasari and Jaimini.
- Parashara System:
Parashara System has the Fixed Karkas
Dasha are based on Nakshatra System.
- Jaimini System:
Jaimini System uses variable Karkas based n degrees of the planet.
Dasha are based on Signs instead of Nakshatra.
SIGNS AND THEIR ASPECTS IN JAIMINI SYSTEM
A planet in Cardinal signs aspects all the Fixed signs, except the sign located next to it.
A planet in fixed sign aspects all the Cardinal signs, except the sign located previous to it.
A planet in Common sign aspects the other three Common signs.
In Jaimini Astrology the twelve signs, from Aries are classified sequentially into
a) Chara(Movable) - Cardinal signs: Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.
b) Sthira(Fixed) - Fixed signs: Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius.
c) Dwiswabhavi (Dual)- Common signs: Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces.
- KARAKAS in JAINIMI::
Karakas in Parashara astrology are based on certain "natural" karakas of the planets.
For example, Venus is the natural karaka for marriage and Mars is the karaka for brothers.
However, in Jaimini astrology, the Karakas can be any of the planets and suggest the use of the following seven Chara-Karakas, meaning the seven changeable significators:
- Atmakaraka (Ownself, considered the strongest planet) AK :
The chief or prime-lord or indicator is all-important. The planet having the highest degree in a sign becomes the Atmakaraka. The strength or weakness of the Atmakaraka seems to reflect the general strength or weakness of the entire horoscope so that the position of the ‘Atma' karaka is very important. The natural Atmakaraka is Ravi or the Sun.
Significator of the Soul, Self, physical appearance, Vitality, Authority
- Amatyakaraka (Career,2nd highest) AMK:
The planet which attains the Second highest degree of longitude.
The natural Atmakaraka is Saturn
The 10th House significations are Career, Honour, Rise in profession, Royalty and Pilgrimage etc. If the Amatya Karak is afflicted, then the native suffers in the fields of profession, wealth, and education.
Significator of the hoard, collections of wealth and knowledge,speech.
Significator of the career, leadership roles, social rank.
Role of the minister who guides the king is Amtyakarka
- Bhratrukaraka (Brothers and sisters) BK:
The natural Atmakaraka is Mars or Mangal
We can also judge the significations of 9th house i.e. Father, Guru, Long-Journeys, Fortune, Dharma, Religion, and Higher Education etc.
- Matrukaraka (Mother) MK :
The natural Matrukaraka is Moon or Chandra
Significator of Schooling, landed property, cultural roots.
- Putrakaraka (Children,) PK :
It is the Respresnts 5th house. The planet which is the Fifth Highest degree becomes the Putra Karaka.
The natural or naisargika indicator of function is Guru or Jupiter
“Putra” means Son. We can judge the significations of the 5th House from PK i.e. Children, Wisdom, Romance, Sacred Spells, Intellect, Speculation & Lottery, Mantra, Pregnancy, Creativity, etc.
We can also say PK for the significations of 9th House, as it is 5th from 5th. The analysis of education, progeny, the knowledge of Mantras, ministership are analyzed through the fifth house..
- Gnatikaraka (Cousins/relations, Hurdles) GK:
The gnati karaka (6h,8h,12h) likewise produces difficult patterns in a chart.
The planet which comes sixth-lowest degrees becomes the Gnati Karaka.
“Gnati” means Hurdles/ Challenges/obstacles.
It represents 6th house and its significations Are Enemies, Maternal Relatives, Diseases, Debts, Disagreements, Competitions, Legal Proceedings, Servitude, physicians, druggists, surgeons, healers, shamans
Similarly, we can also examine the significations of the 8th & 12th house from GK.
Significator of Arguments, Strife and Service, conflict, disease, healing, death-and-rebirth, dissolution of identity, astral bridge, Spirituality, Sudden events, Loss, Gain, Transformation, Sadhana(Meditation)
- Darakaraka (Husband, wife) DK:
The natural Darakaraka is Sukra or Venus.
All the significations of the 7th House comes under the purview of DK like Spouse, Business-Partner, Trade, Foreign Travel, Pad-Prapti, Enemies in open and Public Image/Fame .All kinds of partnership, foreign travel, and all kinds of business analysis is seen through this house. The analysis of the popularity of a person is also done through the seventh house. This house is also studied to analyze the behavior of a life partner.
If the Darakaraka planet is afflicted in the chart, then a person may experience difficulties in the subjects related to the seventh house.
